Eric Wilson Novel StudyEric Wilson is a Canadian-born writer who has dedicated his career to writing chidren's mystery novels. The series follows two different characters as they solve crimes in various Canadian settings. These novels are great for upper elementary classrooms and their simple language and twisting plots are great for reluctant readers. The detailed descriptions of Canadian cities allow the students to tour across Canada and learn about some of our country's great tourist attractions, cultures, and history. Some of these novels even incorporate FNMI content, and lend themselves to lots of class discussion. The mystery novel genre naturally forces students to pick up on subtle textual clues, make and change predictions, make inferences, evaluate setting and mood, and to question characters and their motives.
